I was in an elementary school classroom in St. Louis Park today photographing for the Givens Foundation for African American Literature, a great organization. Givens offers school residencies with local literary artists. Here is storyteller Nothando Zulu.

My lovely friend Emily dancing a cherry blossom dance on a beautiful spring morning. Ah. And if you want to dance with Emily, here’s a link to her website.

sing, originally uploaded by jenniferlarson.

May 18. Community sing in Powerhorn Park. Lovely evening to sit in the park and sing! They talked a bit about the history of community sings in Minneapolis. From the around the 1920 to the mid-1950s thousands of people would gather in the parks to sing. I loved the stories about the competitions between Minneapolis parks. I think the largest singing crowd was 35,000! (Not sure if I heard that right.)
