cucumbers, originally uploaded by jenniferlarson.

Funny, I thought I posted this last night.

These poor cucumbers remind me of a children’s story by Arnold Loebel called Tearwater Tea. Owl says, “I think it’s a good day to make tearwater tea.” He gets a teapot and sits down and thinks of sad things like pencils that are too short to use, books with a page missing, spoons that have fallen behind the stove and are forgotten, sunrises no one sees because everyone is sleeping. Big tears fall and drop into his teapot. When he’s filled the pot with tears, Owl puts the pot on to boil. He says, “Tearwater tea is a little salty, but always very good.”
