February 5.  We helped make sandwiches, then went on a tour with a local church to some neighborhoods where they provide food for kids.  Then we went to the city’s dump, where we also gave out sandwiches, water, and oranges.  Many people work at the dump to make a living (not employees of the dump).  They scavenge materials to build their homes, look for things to sell to make money, and find food for their animals.  This boy was balancing a cup on his head–he liked seeing the photo on my little digital screen.

February 4.  Back in Mazatlan.  And there’s a bonus post for today–we saw lots of star fish on the beach at Stone Island (Isla de Piedra).

January 29, Michael and I headed to Mazatlan, Mexico.  A big thanks to Christy and Harry, who watched our kids.  I’m also adding a guest photo image for this day–Michael got really into photographing from the plane on the way down.  The mountains were amazing.
